The only thing I knew about Indian food was curry. I have never tried this but heard that it was spice. But reading this article I found out more information about the cuisine of this exotic country. The headline of the article I have read is "Spice up your life in India: On a search for fine food in Hyderabad, Cochin and Mumbai". It was written by Nick Maes and published in the Mail Online on the 20th of May 2014. The main theme of the article is Indian cuisine. The author tells about his adventures and discoveries of Indian national street food which other tourists usually ignore and are scared to try.
The author tavelled to three different towns in India to taste dishes which are offered by local chefs. I was surprised that of such simple products as millet, melted butter or lentil can be got typical Indian ragi sangati or pappu. Further traveller writes about unusual dish which consists of mutton, mint, coriander, tongues and trotters. He also addes that he didn`t try it because of the offals. In my opinion he shouldn`t have been so captious and could taste it. If were him I would definetely tried one bite!
The author continues with retalling his adventures in colourful India. He was guided to the Spice Coast houseboats. I have never heard about them before - turnes out that these are the floats with living houses on them and people who trade the spices.The author finished his journey in Mumbay where he tasted the smallest dish. Pani puri is the size as ping-pong ball filled with peas, spice and souce.
It was really interesting to read about Indian cuisine as I don`t know if I ever get a chance to visit this country. I am not afraid of tasting foreign food because it is the part of culture and if you want to better understand people you should try everything!
